I love it, I haven’t seen or heard about Dutch ovens in ages. I’m amazed that there are so many things that you can do with it, baking, frying roasting and so much more. Thank you for sharing this wonderful information.
Hi Yvonne! Thank you for taking time out of your day to visit Haley’s Kitchen. It truly is an amazing accessory! And the enameled ones come in so many different colors, how could you not want to buy them all!
I just recently got my first dutch oven. I plan on trying some bread in mine soon. Great post!
Thanks Hallie! I got Erin hers for Christmas last year and we’re both obsessed with it! Once we have a bigger kitchen in our own home I will probably invest in a few more of different sizes 🙂
You know, I am so glad that I ran into this article. My aunt gave me a dutch oven for my birthday last week, and honestly…. I have no idea how to use it haha. I got online today, not expecting to find anything relevant enough to what I was looking for because I figure this question would be too broad. But low and behold, you have provided here THE PERFECT article for me. Thank you so much
Hi Misael!
I’m so glad I was able to help you out! Dutch ovens are an amazing accessory and will last you a life time if taken care of properly. You aunt has good taste!
If you have any questions I wasn’t able to answer or need any tips feel free to email me at contact@haleyskitchen.com.
Thank you so much!
I also want one. Looks like a great gadget to have, especially if you are like me and like to make one pot no-fuss meals. Here in South Africa, we have something called a potjie pot which looks like it works on a similar concept but doesn’t look as fancy. I think the Dutch oven is a step up.
I like that it retains the heat and you can even make your dessert in it. I also like your idea of gifting it to someone you live with, then at least you get to use it too.
Hi Michel!
I had to look up what a potjie pot was and it is very similar to a Dutch oven! I love that it has legs to stand on! Unfortunately, I don’t live where I can hang one over coals. I’ll have to do some research to see if there’s any ways to use it indoors!
Thank you so much for visiting 🙂
I don’t have a Dutch oven yet, but given this multifunctional use, I would be happy to add it to my kitchen.
Your article is so compelling with a great description that I’m seriously considering buying it and starting to try it out in cooking, frying, and baking. I checked on Amazon and there are quite a few choices in terms of shape, size and price.
Thanks for a great presentation and a great idea!
Friendly greeting,
Nina
Hi Nina!
Dutch ovens are amazing. I use mine almost daily! I guess I need to look into getting a 2nd or 3rd one for variety haha!
I didn’t know dutch ovens could be used to bake! My mom always used it for slow cooking stews and roasts. I learned something new in your article. I didn’t know dutch ovens have been around for 100s of years. Nor, did I know it originated in the Netherlands. Personally, I don’t like slow cooking of any kind. I own an electric power pressure cooker. It acts as a slow cooker as well – but being that I’m into instant gratification, I don’t use that feature. Great post.
Hi Shalisha!
I’m glad you learned something new, that’s what I’m here for 🙂
Dutch ovens aren’t just slow cookers, they can really be used for anything. I sometimes whip up meals in 14-20 minutes in my Dutch oven. Since the heat is produced and circulated evenly, they’re great for quick meals or slow cooked meals! Pressure cookers are great it you’re pressed for time for sure.
Hi Hales,
Thanks for sharing this amazing content of Dutch Oven, it is truly a versatile pot.
It is an essential piece of cookware for every kitchen, the heavy bottomed lidded pot can do everything from baking, simmering soups, and stews to fry meats.
But choosing the right one will surely last for a lifetime. Ah, it seems to be the multi-cooker of yore, pot with no mechanical failures.
I loved its smart design with loop handles and will offer lifetime durability. Amazed by the features you mentioned in this article,
Great!
Cheers!
Hi Sam!
The Dutch oven is probably my favorite kitchen cooking accessory. And this Lodge Dutch oven is perfect if it’s your first time cooking with one. Or even if you’re experienced in Dutch ovens it’s still pretty great!
And yes, it’s versatile and can cook pretty much anything you want it to. The design is heavy but not too heavy that it can’t be lifted even if it were full of soup. It’s sturdy and durable and I’ve had it for over a year without any damages or chipping from the enamel. If you take care of your cookware, it’ll last a lifetime.
However, I really need to get myself another one since I cook with this one almost every day haha!
